Mission

The mission of Médecins Sans Frontières Logistique is to guarantee the safety and quality of medical and non-medical supplies to Médecins Sans Frontières and other humanitarian organisations.

Guaranteeing the safety and quality of the medical and non-medical supply chain

Médecins Sans Frontières Logistique is one of the largest distribution centres delivering humanitarian assistance throughout the world. We purchase, store, prepare, and ship around 6,000 tonnes of medical supplies and logistics equipment.

Based in Mérignac (33), Médecins Sans Frontières Logistique guarantees the reliability of the Médecins Sans Frontières Supply Chain:

  • purchasing
  • supply
  • storage
  • kit assembly
  • order preparation
  • transport to the field

Over the years, in response to new challenges, our organisation has become even more professional. Operations that once relied on volunteers returning from missions are now run by permanent Centre employees supporting the missions. Today, more than 170 employees purchase, store, package, and ship around 6,000 tonnes of medical and non-medical equipment a year.

Development of related activities

In addition to our Supply Chain work, we have also developed two additional activities :

  • A workshop that adapts 4x4 vehicles to meet Médecins Sans Frontières standards
  • An Air Operations Unit, which coordinates all airborne resources that deliver supplies to teams on the ground
